After what has felt like an extremely long winter, on March 20th we can finally greet the first day of spring! It’s the perfect opportunity to spruce up your home and make a start on those essential spring-cleaning tasks.
We’ve compiled a list of some of the things you can do to get your home ready for spring and summer!
1. Get your brighter soft furnishings out!
Put away your heavy blankets, pillows and thick duvet and replace them with lighter and brighter furnishings for the spring and summer months to make your home feel more vibrant.

You could also give the walls a fresh lick of paint, or add more colour to your home through furnishings, accessories and paint colours.
2. Embrace natural light!
Making the most of any natural light that comes into your home is a great way to make your space feel light and airy. Move some of your furniture around to allow the light to flood in!
3. Fill your home with flowers
This time of year brings the most beautiful selection of flowers. You don’t have to spend a fortune at the florist, your local supermarket will have a wide range to choose from, or why not plant some seeds and grow some yourself over the summer months.

Brightly coloured tulips, daffodils, pansies and peonies all flourish in the spring months. Pair these with a nice bright vase and what better way to brighten up your home!
4. Have a good declutter!
Over the winter months we can collect a lot of ‘stuff’ that we just don’t need! Take the opportunity to have a good sort-out and get rid of all those things you don’t use and are taking up space you could be using for something better.
Whilst you’re on, it’s always worth going through your wardrobe and seeing what you can donate or perhaps sell. It’s also a good time to start preparing to put your winter clothes away and getting your lighter layers back out!
5. Get the garden ready
If you have (like most of us!) neglected the garden over the winter months, now is the time to start getting it sorted for the spring and summer seasons. Trim everything back and remove the dead leaves, and make sure your garden furniture is all clean and ready to go!
6. Clean those corners that always get missed!
Every home has those certain areas that get missed during the day to day cleaning. Things like cleaning the blinds, window frames, dusting any cobwebs, and getting into those hard-to-reach areas. The start of a new season is the perfect time to pay attention to them, but don’t overwhelm yourself with tasks! Start by writing everything down and working at them room by room.
7. Spruce up your workspace
Many of us now work from home at least one day a week. Now is a great time to think about giving your home workspace a new lease of life. If you’ve been putting off buying that new much-needed office chair or you need to invest in some better storage, now is the time to do it!
